Unblack Metal is Dead

I've been thinking about this a lot. When I first started this project, I did not call myself unblack metal, but the title was often placed on my music. I did not have a problem with this until recently. The reason I have a problem with it now is due to ponderance on the term and the meaning placed on it. "Unblack..."

I'll say again that this project is not and has never been a ministry. It's me, someone who is very bad at being a good Christian, talking about how bad I am at it. The ambient tracks are more so meditations on certain Bible passages. I think I've been clear about all of this.

Unblack metal has certain meanings attached to it and very rapidly, over the past two years or so, not all of those are positive. I've seen a lot of mockery, political leanings, stereotypically fascist attitudes, and vulgar expressions attached to many projects.

Seriously? Nazis? And you call yourselves Christians. Sometimes it's very hard to have the unconditional love and unlimited forgiveness that we're supposed to have as followers of God. I think about this in every action I take and every interaction I have with other people.

I understand the rebellious aspect of our music genre, but it has become a uniform one has to wear and a set of rules we're expected to adhere to in order to belong. And even if you hate Satan, or are anti-Satanist or whatever, throwing words around like, "faggot," just isn't how we should behave. Also, if you think that by going out and challenging people that aren't Christians in this way is somehow performing the work of God or building his kingdom, you are entirely wrong. I strongly suggest you do the tiny amount of research it takes to find out why this is wrong in any context if you're a Christian. Even besides our religion, is flat out wrong.

If you think that Jesus would condone stoking confrontation in the way you have in any, I do not believe that you have bothered to pursue Christ with any serious intent and it's clear. Don't try to say after the fact that you're being ironic or that you're being satirical - you're not, and you know you're not. This sort of thing will blow up in your face.

On top of that, the insane amount of scandal that has hit the Christian music scene at large lately is incredible. If you're following Christ, regardless of how hard your walk is with him at the moment, you must strive to do what is right and do everything you can to stay on that path - you don't have to mess up on purpose, you'll do that plenty on accident. Develop some humility.

By somehow deluding yourself into thinking homophobia, racism, or fascism is defensible in any way shape or form, you have played directly into the devil's hands and his plans. If you think that you are somehow dismantling the empire of evil built upon the earth by the devil by using his own tools against him, you are factually, emotionally, and philosophically bankrupt.

Repent and at least sincerely try to be a good Christian. I'm not saying I'm any better at it than anyone else, as a matter of fact I'm loathe to admit that I am terrible at being a good Christian. I pray multiple times every day that Christ forgive what I thought, what I think, and the multitude of actions I perform that I probably shouldn't, but I am at least trying as hard as I can. I fail all the time, as will you, but  we must not be fooled into thinking by contributing to satan's evil chaos we're performing the work of our Heavenly Father.

Unblack Metal is Dead, please don't put my project in that genre anymore. I am drawing the line for myself here. You can continue how you see fit, but do not include me in it. There will be a reckoning.

I will not be retroactively removing the term "Unblack Metal" from my previous releases, I will keep those intact as they are, but future re-releases won't be using the term and I won't be using it further to promote my project.

Those were the big things that bother me, otherwise, it's just too limiting for me. It has too much meaning and too many rules attached to it.

Praise Jesus.
